#30while30 – New Volunteer Experience

‘Tis the season to give back.

#30while30 – New Volunteer Experience

I partnered with members of my church, Passionate Life Church, to Volunteer with Urban Outreach.

Dinner number 234 was a success, feeding 60+ people a delicious hot meal of Baked Ziti, Salad, Garlic Butter Roll, and a Lemon Cupcake.

While eating, Pastor Isaac prays and leads a sermon on the Christ story.

As we enter Thanksgiving week and the Holiday season, let us remember to express gratitude and give back where we can.

Let your light shine!

“Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.” Isaiah‬ ‭58:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The four pillars of purpose:

  1. Community
  2. Yoga
  3. Christ-Centeredness
  4. Living Beyond Ourselves

I went to Lost Canyon and found my Soul!

Total Solar Eclipse

Experiencing the solar eclipse in the path of totality was awe-inspiring. I was in Glendo, WY with a large group of in-laws. Seeing stars and planets in the middle of the day and the fiery ring around the moon was an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience that made me get teary eyed.

Total Solar Eclipse Time-lapse

It was worth the 10-hour drive back to Denver that day.

In a country that is tense and divided, a spectacular celestial event that brought us all together to forget our differences and look at the sky for a couple minutes was just what we needed.

#30while30 – River Trip

Green River State Park to Mineral Bottoms in Canyonlands National Park. 68 miles on the Green River. 6 People, 5 Days, 4 Nights, 3 Canoes.

#30while30 – River Trip

Canyon Club: a Brown-family tradition of rolling down the Green River that spans three generations.

It would be more appropriate to call the Green River the Brown River from the never-settling silt. What surprises me the most was how eager I was to jump in that murky water to cool off.

The first time Nate told me about these "float-trips" I responded that my idea of camping was staying at an Embassy Suites with my mom in Tulsa on a Shopping Spree. (True Story.)

The Camp Queen (not a self-appointed title, I swear) could hold her own: I paddled, I learned how to load a balanced canoe, I worked as a team to build and pack-up camp each day. I thank my experience working on set for teaching me how to work as a team and jump in and learn on-the-go. I embraced the new experience, and the dirt.

I would go again. And more importantly, The Commodore invited me back.

#30while30 – Keg Stand

Somehow I graduated from CU Boulder without doing a Keg Stand. Well, I did my alma mater proud and fixed that:

#30while30 – Keg Stand

While the basics of the Keg Stand are easy enough to understand I would like to mention an important lesson I learned.

Have an exit strategy. A double-tap of your heels or a flutter of your legs to let your keg stand crew know you’re tapping out.

Upside down with a mouthful of beer is not the time to try and communicate with words.
